Hi everyone,
Summer has been none eventful here in Vancouver but I really don't mind as that means for me, less sweat to mop up on set. Also when working on a movie in the prime of summer you have the on going battle of preventing the actor from getting sun burnt. An actor with a burnt nose or ears or neck can not only be uncomfortable but can screw up your continuity.
In June I worked on a movie called Smoke Jumpers starring the very lovely Brooke Burns who plays a fire woman called Kristin.
She goes on this challenging journey of proving to herself her family and colleagues that she is good enough to be accepted and work along the elite group of smoke jumpers. ( Crazy firemen that like to jump out of airplanes and land in fires to put them out.) I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Rick Ravanello he plays a smoke jumper called Ray Kulhanek that helps Brooke. They are such wonderful down to the earth people they made it such a joy to go to work.
I used a jane Iredale H/E 4 on Rick which he loved on his skin as he felt like he wasn't wearing any make-up at all, another reason why the product worked really well is that is has titanium dioxide in it, thus sun screen so he was getting extra protection from the sun.
I have just wrapped up another show called "Impulse" starring Willa Ford and Angus Mac Fadden.
Willa taught me a new word the other day she said oh that girl is "whacked" I asked if that was good or bad it means bad she's not very good. Unlike when you say that someone is sick which can mean cool or hot.
Willa was hooked on RCMA foundation and of course I have some in my kit as I was trained in it. It is interesting how you leave products in search of the next big and better thing but then do a full circle and come back to what you know. I have realized if someone's skin is use to a product and is happy with it why try and fix something that is not broken. Watching Willa's skin through the high def monitor the RCMA gave her skin an nice glow and excellent coverage.
